JOB BRIEF Develops and implements the Information Technology communication strategy to raise the awareness of IT plans, benefits, contributions, policies, and practice to the greater Compassion community as well as external Compassion partners. Also serves to develop various marketing and communication strategies to external and external audiences to promote awareness of major Compassion technology needs. Responsible for Compassion IT brand management as well as key technology communications. Acts as communication consultant to the overall IT leadership.

Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer. Acts as an advocate for children – raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one’s influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children. Drives and collaborates with IT leaders to create and sustain a unified IT brand. Develop, plan, craft, and implement communication strategies and information pieces regarding IT’s delivery, targeted to Compassion leadership and staff. Develops communications pieces, feature articles, interviews, success stories, vidcasts, Webinars, social media strategies and other media tactics to develop overall awareness of Compassion technology delivery and strategy. Counsels VP of IT and IT leadership on overall awareness efforts and interacts with IT leadership team for specific communication support. Develops and cultivates marketing opportunities with appropriate local, regional and national channels in order to raise awareness of and help garner funding for Compassion technology needs. Involved with VP of IT in planning and implementation of technology awareness events and/or trips for potential donors and corporate technology executives. Establishes controls and manages the governance of various communication channels within IT to ensure consistency of language and communication. This includes establishing policy and guidelines for the use of email, portals, print, blogs, wikis, and other such communication vehicles. Leads the relationship with other Compassion internal communication groups to manage both internal and external public relations opportunities. Requirements FUNCTIONAL JOB COMPETENCIES Demonstrated ability to plan and execute strategic communication plans. Expert in managing the creation and placement of behavior-changing communications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to speak publicly on behalf of the IT organization and its leadership to a broad and often non-technical audience. Demonstrated skills in influencing leaders and collaborating in a team setting. Proven ability to train, teach, and mentor others in the IT organization in communications, presentations, and the best use of a myriad of electronic and print-based media. Ability to direct the work of an outside agency on behalf of the IT organization. Ability to succeed in a self-directed work environment. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and execute multiple communications projects with firm deadlines. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, and/or communications. Advanced degree is preferred. 5 years professional experience in marketing, public relations, and/or corporate communications. Certifications/Licensing: N/A Other Required Skills: Experience writing technology related pieces for a non-technical audience (i.e. national magazine) is a definate plus. • Strong understanding of the issues and challenges within the information technology industry is a must.
